What is CT Scan
A CT Scan is an imaging test that uses low dose of radiation to produce images. It is helpful in looking for abnormalities in the internal organs and in diagnosing diseases such as cancers.
CT Scan Vs MRI Scan
Which is cheaper CT scan or MRI? In most cases, a CT scan is cheaper than MRI since the latter involves a different machine. For the most part, MRI is used to create images with great detail especially in the tissue level. The doctor will recommend whether you need a CT scan or an MRI.
The cheapest CT Scan that we have found is Php 2,500 which is available in a government hospital. However, this is usually only for charity patients and special LGU programs.
Some of them are even providing free services depending on whether you are indigent, PWD or have any other qualifications. Sometimes, local government hospitals may provide these for free as a program to their constituents. However, you may need to submit some documents in order to qualify. For example, requests from government hospitals, DSWD and PCSO certificates may help.
Discounted Prices
Is CT scan covered by Philhealth? Yes, the case rate of Philhealth is now available so you can see the amount covered by the agency.
There are only certain diagnostic procedures that Philhealth covers and you can only avail them when you are eligible or if requirements are met.
Is there a discount for senior citizens? Yes, you may get up to 20% discount if you have a card ID and booklet. Just inform the center or hospital that you will use your card.
Some LGUs provide free diagnostic tests to their constituents. However, there are requirements before you can avail the services. Request for more details about it from your local city hall.
Diseases and medical conditions can be diagnosed using the scans. Some of them may include but not limited to brain tumor or brain cancer, leukemia, Breast cancer, Bone cancer, Lung cancer, Prostate cancer, Aneurysm, Stroke, Lumbar herniated disc, Tumors in body parts, Colon cancer.
The main benefit of CT scan is clear imaging. Unlike with traditional X-rays, this test provides clear pictures of the insides of the body in multiple slices. It then gives the doctors an idea on the current conditions of the internal organs, tissues and blood vessels.
