Have you noticed a lump in one of your arm veins? A doctor may diagnose what is called Superficial Thrombophlebitis. If the clot has been there for a long time, surgery to remove it may be performed.
Rates of Surgery
The price of arm blood clot removal in the Philippines may range from Php 5,500 to Php 8,000 depending on severity. In public hospitals, a cheap thrombectomy rate may start from Php 3,000 but they are usually filled with patients.
One of our friends was able to have the surgery at Medical City in Fairview and it was priced around Php 5,500 (without Philhealth).
Personal Experience
Hospitals like Medical City, PGH, St. Luke’s or Capitol Medical Center have the facility for a simple day surgery. In fact, the surgery on the arm takes only about 30-45 minutes.
Using Insurance
Since it is a surgery procedure, you may use a Philhealth account to cover at least the doctor’s fee. Health cards of HMO may not cover it since the pre-existing condition rule may apply.
Where to Go?
Major hospitals with operating rooms can perform the skin surgery. If the clot or bump is in the superficial vein, the doctor will only have to make a small incision, about 1 cm.
Recovery Time
Removing the vein bump will require stitches. You may go home the same day after the procedure. After a week or two, the thread will dissolve naturally. A scar may be visible for life but there are cosmetic procedures that can reduce its appearance.
Cause
According to an article by Makati Medical Center, different factors may cause blood clotting in the arm. They include obesity, genetics, trauma and high blood pressure.
