Sputum test may be recommended by your doctor to see if you have an active TB (Tuberculosis). Patients usually pay from Php 750 to Php 3,500 or more for this test. See the price of the TB sputum test today.
Prices in Hospitals
- Makati Medical Center – Php 7,000
- New World Diagnostics – Php 800 and up
- Lung Center of the Philippines – Php 890 and up
We noticed that stand alone diagnostic centers have better pricing in terms of affordability. In our surveys, they usually cost less than 1,000.
In some government hospitals that specifically treat TB, the test may be cheaper or sometimes free of charge for qualified patients. You may inquire from your LGU if this is available.
Apart from this test, the doctor may also request for other diagnostic procedures to confirm TB. Have you heard about the PPD skin test? This may eventually give more details whether you are sick or not.
How much if HMO is used?
Sputum tests and other laboratory exams may not be covered by health cards. In most cases, they can only cover expenses for check up, confinement and even surgeries. But I have found an HMO that offers unlimited diagnostic tests for 1 year so this procedure may be included.
