Types of Mammogram
We have identified a number of options such as digital, 2D and 3D depending on the doctor’s request. For example, our research shows that the price of the digital version with four (4) views is Php 2,000.
The cheapest we have found is Php 1,200 which is also similar to a government hospital rate.
Depending on the needs of the patient, different types are available. Some of the most common ones include but not limited to:
- Traditional (x-ray)
- Digital
- 3D version (tomosynthesis)
If you want a more detailed and accurate image result, you may avail tomosynthesis but we assume that this is only available based on doctor’s request.
As a male, can I have the test?
Even though women are at a higher risk of getting breast cancer, men can also be victims of the disease. The rates are usually the same as those with mammogram for women.
PCHRD’s data show that 1 in 1000 men may be at risk of getting breast cancer. This is something that you should be aware of.
Are there any other simpler tests?
Ultrasound may also be an added test for those with breast cancer risks. Your doctor may recommend it together with mammogram. Other tests that a doctor could request may include but not limited to blood tests and x-ray.
When can I get results?
The results of most imaging diagnostics may be available after a few days. The hospital or clinic will provide the release date of the results. You should bring the documents to the doctor to receive an assessment.
