Dengue fever may affect anyone from young children to adults. A dengue test price starts from Php 680 in a government hospital. On the other hand, blood tests for dengue in private hospitals may start from Php 1,000.
Cheapest Hospitals
As we all know, government hospitals usually have lower prices. In one public hospital however, the rate is Php 2,515 which is on the higher rate. This is unusual but it could be due to supply and demand.
Based on our research, private clinics tend to be 20% more expensive than the ones in public facilities.
Philhealth Cost
The agency does not cover the lab testing of the blood. If the patient already has a confirmed status, then the insurance will cover a part of the cost.
Note that lab test prices change depending on the request of the doctor. To eliminate other possible causes of the fever, other procedures may be recommended.
We are glad that there are available dengue sets in some pharmacies. The price of a dengue test kit in the Philippines may start from Php 299 to Php 699. You may inquire from any drug stores in your area.
Where to Get the Test
Hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centers can provide the rapid test. You may need to secure a prescription request from the doctor for the test. In some patients, the blood test may be done upon confinement.
The results of the test may be available after 24 hours in some hospitals.
Using HMO
HMO companies that offer health cards usually do not cover the tests for dengue fever. However, the accounts may be utilized for confinement expenses, doctor’s fees and other related devices.
There is also an option to get covered for ER trips, for sure the expenses are included in these plans.
