Where can I find a cheaper rate?
You may be able to find a public hospital that offers cheap sessions starting from Php 2,000 but with the help of philhealth case rate, it can go as low as Php 700.
Peritoneal dialysis involves the use of abdominal lining to filter blood and the price of this treatment can range from Php 3,000 to Php 4,500 or more per session. The solution may start from Php 190 – 350 per 2 liters in some government hospitals.
Price per week
Most patients will be required to undergo treatments up to 3 sessions per week. Each hemodialysis session can last up to 4 hours in most hospitals. So you can compute the weekly expenses by simply multiplying it to the number of sessions.
For example, if you will go to a private clinic with a Php 3,000 rate, the weekly cost will be Php 9,000 at the minimum.
Some people may have to undergo treatment for life. However, those with acute conditions may only need a specific number of treatment sessions.
How much is Philhealth’s coverage?
Philhealth has recently increased its coverage. As of the latest details, it will cover up to 90 days (or 90 sessions) worth of dialysis per patient. Now, the sessions have become 144.
Not all HMO plans will cover the costs of hemodialysis. If you have a kidney condition before your HMO account was approved, you may have it under the pre-existing type of health card.
For the most part, senior citizens can enjoy a lower price thanks to their general benefits when it comes to medical care.
Is it painful to have dialysis?
There is indeed some pain but the patient needs to tolerate it. In one instance, we observed that the tubes are attached to a vein in the neck for the treatment to start.
