Sleep troubles can be assessed by the doctor through a series of tests. A sleep study in a hospital equates to a fee of โฑ10,000 to โฑ40,000 or more depending on the available package.
We have created a list of hospitals where you can have the procedure together with the rates.
Hospitals with Sleep Test | Rates |
---|---|
Asian Hospital (combined) | โฑ45,240 |
Chong Hua Hospital (as diagnostic) | โฑ15,451 |
Chong Hua Hospital (sleep night study) | โฑ25,894 |
Makati Medical Center (sleep latency test only) | โฑ14,280 |
Sleep apnea may also be considered a disorder and the cost for this exam starts from Php 12,000 to Php 12,000 which depends on the available method. In some hospitals, a home test kit may be available and usually starts from Php 5,000.
Major medical centers offer the test as a separate service. Among government hospitals, we found that Lung Center of the Philippines has a dedicated sleep test service which is the cheapest.
What are the different versions?
In cases where you will undergo an executive check up, the test may be done overnight. However, all other types of test may only require a few hours without overnight stay.
As an additional diagnostics, an EEG is used to monitor the brain’s activities, your breathing, movement and heart rate which may also be a part of the sleep test. Later, even stress tests and ECG may be integrated into your results.
Are these familiar?
- Difficulty falling asleep
- Waking up often at night
- Irregular sleep and wake cycle everyday (changes in time of sleep and waking up)
Chances are, any one of these symptoms may prevent your body from recovering and cause problems later on. Some studies suggest that there is a relationship between Alzheimer’s and lack of sleep according to the NIH.
It is quite alarming that a report by Manila Bulletin indicates that sleep disorders are highest in the Philippines among SEA nations. With a 46% reported incidence among the region, the country posted the highest rate.
I am yet to find an HMO that specifically covers sleep tests. This is a special procedure and may not be included in their plans. Also, if you have sleep disorders, then the companies will probably identify it as a pre-existing condition, something they do not cover.
Senior citizens may enjoy a lower price for most medical exams that relate to aging. If you have an ID or booklet, you may bring them to avail a lower rate.
