The two types may be given by the doctor simultaneously depending on the patient’s condition.

The vaccine is quite affordable with price ranging from Php 200 to Php 500 per shot. However, you can still find a cheap one from government hospitals through their charity programs.
HMO for Vaccines
Some HMO cards may cover the initial shot. However, consult with your provider first to know if the vaccine is covered or included in your benefits. Animal bites that may require it may also be covered by some health cards.
Animal Bite Centers
Most animal bite centers or ABC also include the vaccine if the patient was bitten by dogs or cats. You may ask the doctor from the clinic if you need this vaccine.
Is The Infection Deadly?
Yes, if left untreated, it will cause your muscles to contract without control which may affect your breathing, swallowing and other complications. The average incubation period is about 10 days according to Mayoclinic.
Other fees that you may need to pay since you are at the ER are emergency room fees, consultation fee and miscellaneous fees which may include cotton, gauze pad, syringes.
Preparation
The doctor or nurse may first perform a procedure to test whether you are allergic to the shot or not. A small prick may be done on your skin to see if your body will react to the substance. If there are no allergic reactions, the full shot will be given by the doctor or nurse.
For seniors, there is also a discount available to you. Make sure to bring your ID to avail the lower price of the vaccine. Some LGUs may offer free injections depending on their local programs for the people.

How Long Is It Effective?
We asked the doctor about the duration of the vaccine’s efficacy and found out that the single toxoid is valid up to 2 to 5 years. But if you have a deep wound, you may need booster shots even if you had the vaccine in less than two years. Consult with your doctor about this.
Pregnant Women and Birth Delivery
Usually, the vaccine is also given to women who just gave birth for example with caesarean or c-section operation. The doctor will provide you the shot and is included in the total hospital bill.
Vaccine for Children
You may proceed to the ER if your child has a deep and dirty wound. Or, you can have him immunized together with a tetanus package including other vaccines. Usually, this is also cheap and affordable for a long term protection.
Take note that this is the latest price we have acquired and may change without notice. Other hospitals and diagnostic centers may provide this vaccine.
