Tumor Marker Test: Early Detection

Last Updated on September 9, 2024 by MedicalPinas

In the Philippines, the price of tumor marker tests starts from Php 440 to Php 3,400 depending on the cancer type. We have created the rates list from some hospitals.

Rates of Hospitals

Hospitals/ClinicsPrice (Php)
Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center440 – 570 (CA15, CA19, CA125)
American Bio Clinical Lab3,556 – 12,358 (Package rates)
AIDE900 – 3,400

As indicated, the cheapest price that we have found comes from a government hospital starting at Php 440. You may still find an accessible center if this one is too far from your location.

Health Card Option

We have not found an HMO that specifically covers this test. But I have seen one that offers a prepaid account with unlimited diagnostic procedures for one year. The price starts from Php 16,000.

When Is It Done

Usually, the test is done to learn more about an existing tumor or cancer according to ClevelandClinic. However, certain cancer types may be sensitive to the test so hospitals can also use it to screen for potential diseases.

Types

Since cancer screening tests have many forms, the particular organ affected also predicts that type of tumor marker to use. For example, breast, pancreatic and ovarian cancers have similar prices when it comes to marker tests.

  • Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA)
  • CA 125 (ovarian)
  • HE4 (ovarian)
  • CA 15-3 (breast)
  • Beta HCG
  • Total Prostate Specific Antigen (TPSA)
  • CA 19-9 (pancreas / stomach)

Procedure Type

In our research, we found that the procedure is not restricted to blood extraction when getting a sample. The marker tests may also be done using urine samples and biopsies when necessary.
