Health Card Use
This is where an HMO account will prove beneficial. Health card insurance can cover your ER expenses in full amount. It is also available to prepaid health card holders.
Government Centers
In government hospitals, the average ER fee starts from Php 500 and above depending on the institution’s specialization.
The cheapest ER price that I found comes from public hospitals at Php 350 per day. Of course, patients may avail the services for free in a charity section.
Transfer to Hospitals
Surely, you may request to be transferred to another facility. The doctor attending to your current needs will have to do a referral request and you will sign a waiver.
In most cases, you need to settle the bill first of the initial emergency room expenses.
Just a reminder, your HMO benefit for ER admission may be forfeited once you transfer to another hospital since it is usually one time use only.
Savings Option
To save, you may immediately use your health insurance card or HMO to cover the expenses right away. If there is a need for diagnostic tests like CT scan, ultrasound or x-ray, you can have them included in the benefit.
