You may use your HMO card for certain types of medical procedures. It is best to coordinate with your provider whether cleft surgery is included in your benefits. If this is considered pre-existing, you cannot use your plan.
Insurance Coverage
Most surgeries are covered by Philhealth but we found out that even LGUs can provide this service for free. For those with health insurance, private hospitals may be your best option. Philhealth has a case rate of Php 7,000 to cover the procedure.
For those who were not able to undergo surgery during childhood, adults may still be able to benefit from the procedure. While it may be more expensive, the surgery can still proceed after doctors’ evaluation.
Recovery Time
The recovery time among children may vary. In some cases, a patient can do normal activities after a week. However, the wound may heal for as long as 4 weeks depending on the health of the individual.
