Most HMO health cards will not cover the price of laryngoscopy. It is a special procedure and will not be available for coverage. However, you can still use your card for consultation and other expenses if permitted.

An ENT doctor can provide the correct diagnosis and treatment of throat problems. If you have any symptoms related to your throat functioning, voice box and breathing, you may consult with such a doctor.

Preparation

Depending on your case, the doctor may require you not to eat anything prior to the procedure. On the other hand, some patients are instructed to have x-rays first. A laryngoscopy under general anesthesia may be an option if prescribed by your doctor.

Depending on your tolerance, an option to have general anesthesia may be given. Ask your doctor about it if you are not comfortable with instruments being inserted into your throat.
