Titanium Implant Price in Philippines: TLIF Lumbar Surgery

Last Updated on September 13, 2024 by MedicalPinas

An herniated disc may call for a titanium implant surgery especially if it becomes too painful. In the Philippines, the price of titanium implant or TLIF may start from ₱880,000 to ₱ 1.3 million depending on the hospital and your confinement days.

Cost Breakdown

Our father had this surgery before and it cost him Php 1,360,900 for a total of 7 days stay at the hospital. The price of implants like a cervical and lumbar plate with titanium screw may range from Php 57,000 to Php 230,000 depending on the number needed.

Discounted Cost

Philhealth is also useful for spine titanium implant surgeries. The case rate may vary but the doctor’s fees are covered with deductions. Your senior citizen ID could also be used for discounts. In all, we received a total of 10% discount.

Doctor’s Fee

An orthopedic surgeon’s rate usually starts at around Php 175,000 and this is separate from the fee of an anesthesiologist. Note that you will be under general anesthesia since it will involve the spine.

Other costs are within the hospital premises like operating room, accommodation, medicines and other supplies.

What is this Surgery?

TLIF or transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion is used to treat slipped or herniated disc, spinal injury, degenerative disease or deformities and fractures. The parts of the vertebrae are fused using titanium implant screws (common).

Where to Go?

One may go to any hospital where the procedure is available as long as you have an orthopedic surgeon. For example, De Los Santos Medical Center, St. Luke’s and Makati Medical Center have the facility for the procedure.

A cheaper version of the surgery may be available from a public hospital like Philippine Orthopedic Center but we noticed that it usually has a lot of patients for appointment.

As you know, herniated discs may induce severe pain and waiting time may not be an option for some patients. Sometimes, it will become an emergency especially when pain relievers or steroid injections no longer work.
