Laminectomy Price in Philippines: Surgery for for Backbone

Last Updated on September 13, 2024 by MedicalPinas

A doctor may treat chronic backbone pain through a surgical procedure called laminectomy. It is one of the many options to reduce inflammation caused by bone spurs. How about we take a look at its price?

Budget to Prepare

In the Philippines, the price of laminectomy may start from Php 125,000 for a fusion without implants. However, other considerations like implants and number of levels may increase the rate up to Php 400,000 or more.

Better Rates

I have found in my research that Philhealth can cover up to Php 55,000 for the spinal cord decompression. They usually cover doctor’s fees, room and board and the surgical price rate. As always, health cards may cover surgery procedures in terms of room, doctors and facility expenses.

Do You Need It?

I have been having pains due to a slipped disc. For people with the same condition due to bone spurs, this is the way to go. The bone that touches the spine or nerve roots will be removed or adjusted as mentioned by Johns Hopkins.

Types

There are two major types namely Lumbar Laminectomy and Cervical Laminectomy. Both of them have their respective rates depending on the hospital. Some references equate laminotomy to laminectomy.

Laminotomy is the partial removal of the laminae while laminectomy is its total removal.

Our office staff member had a spinal fusion called TLIF surgery. The initial prescription was to undergo laminectomy and it was done for a few hours before the titanium braces were placed.

But don’t worry since such conditions are only for severe cases of back and neck pain due to impinged nerves.
